It is imperative that a donor feels immediately valued by your organisation irrespective of the size of their initial gift.
Basic procedures such as a formal process of thanking can help with this, but how you interact with them throughout your relationship will in turn drive your supporter's feeling of being valued.
A supporter journey or donor development plan should be considered to ensure you have touch points during which you have the opportunity to let supporters to interact with you on a 1:1 basis and feel part of your organisation.
A donor development plan should look at all forms of media - direct mail, email, social media and telephone communications for example to ensure that you have a complete communication plan that puts the donor at the heart of the conversation.
